Protect the Vote!
Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007This campaign season, I serve as co-chairman of the Virginia Democratic Party’s “Protect the Vote” campaign. It seems that without fail, in each election cycle, difficulties arise on election day somewhere in Virginia that have the potential effect of preventing someone’s vote from being counted.
The “Protect the Vote” project was critical in my first election to the Virginia House of Delegates. Voting machines malfunctioned at one polling place. The power went out at another polling place. With a very close election, I found myself facing a court challenge based on these operational difficulties. Luckily for me, the “Protect the Vote” project provided my campaign with the legal resources to make sure that our campaign could respond immediately and effectively.
In the last month of this campaign cycle, we need lawyers from across the state who are willing to give their time on election day. We also need people willing to work the polls. Please send me a message through my contact page if you are able to help with the “Protect the Vote” effort. Thanks for making sure that everyone’s vote counts this year!
